Raiding Rules for Prima Nocta, Horde, Gul'dan server
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Purpose: These rules outline the general, specific and special rules by which Prima Nocta will operate during raids. The following raiding-related rules are detailed below:
General - General Raiding Rules - Loot Philosophy - The Prima Karma System
Specific - Raid Start-up and Sign-up - Gear Requirements - Group Composition
Special Situations - Notification - Main Character Changes - Unfair Treatment & Appeals - Items Not Covered
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ General ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- General Raiding Rules: Raiding rules, including guild PvP runs, follow basic guidelines. All guild members are expected to follow these rules in any fully or predominantly PN raid. Be on time, in the right place, ready to go when the event is supposed to start. This is common courtesy; don't keep everyone waiting for you to show up, get your components, or grind that last bit of XP and then beg for a portal. Have your gear fully repaired when a raid starts. Don't leave the raid area without the Raid Leader's approval.
Participation on a raid is based on order of sign-up for the raid, guild rank, gear requirements, group composition, and guild membership. All raids will be lead by an Officer. World PVP raids may have requirements as set by the Raid Leader.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- Loot Philosophy: Prima Nocta's philosophy is centered on improvement AS A GUILD. A basic sense of fairness and looking out for each other is expected. This guild is NOT for the loot hogs that want five of the best swords/bows/axes, etc in the game so they can brag that they have them all. That being said, we believe that those who have contributed the most time and effort to help the guild deserve the best rewards.
In five man instances, from low-levels to heroics, the basic rules for guild-only or predominantly PN runs should be maximum benefit to the guild. Equipment should go to those for whom the upgrade is the biggest. This is a recommended guideline, not a requirement. If the group is unable to decide, use the tried and true "random 100."
During raids, rare recipes may be part of the loot. These items do not require DKP to obtain, but the requesting toon must be on the raid. First, the toon must have sufficient skill level to learn the recipe immediately (and are REQUIRED to learn the recipe on the spot). The only exception to the skill requirement is if the recipe is BOP and no other toon needs the recipe. Second, if more than one toon has a sufficient skill level, recipes will be given to those of the highest guild rank. If two or more toons meet that requirement, the Raid Leader will determine the distribution. Example: 3 toons on a raid are enchanters. Enchant Weapon - Mongoose drops from Moroes. All three enchanters want the recipe. However, one of the toons does not have a sufficient skill level to learn the recipe; the other two toons have are able to learn the recipe immediately. One toon is a Veteran, the other an Initiate. The Veteran receives the recipe and must learn it immediately.
All Tier items will have priority to guild rank Member or higher. Guild Initiates on PN raids will not be allowed to bid on Tier items unless no member wants it. This is done to prevent the old "OMGTIER6KTHXBYEPRIMANOCTA!" move.

Prima Karma System
The Ni Karma System, or Prima Karma for our interpretation, is the loot system that we have decided to switch to starting Tuesday, August 18th. In short, this system is essentially a weighted roll system that gives an advantage(karma) to raiders that show, kill bosses, play through 3 hours of wipes to get a boss, etc. This system will allow us to swap people in and out for bosses and not have to worry about making adjustments to dkp after the raid. Here is how it works.
- Karma will be distributed in multiples of 5. You can earn karma by showing up to raid on time, being their for a boss fight, stepping out when asked to bring someone in, contributing to the guild while on waitlist and so on. As you can see, karma can be given for many reasons.
- When rolling on loot, you can decide to use or not use your karma. When asked to do so, you will whisper the raid leader with bonus if you choose to use it and nobonus if you choose not to use it.
- If you choose to use your bonus, all of your karma will be added to your roll. If you have 45 karma and roll a 50, your total roll will be 95. If you win the item, you will be charged half your karma rounded up to the nearest multiple of five. So in this example the price would be 45/2=27.5 -> rounded up = 30. If you decide to not use your bonus and you are still eligible to roll, there will be no addition to your roll. Furthermore, if you win a roll without using your karma, you will not lose any karma for that item.
- There are some conditions that will need to be met in order to be eligible to roll.
- You must be within 50 karma of the person rolling with the karma. For example, raider A has 75 karma and decides to use his bonus. Raider B with only 10 karma is not eligible to roll. This helps to keep it fair so that people who have been showing up and getting karma do not have to roll against people who don't show up as much.
- To roll on class items (tokens), you will need at least 25 karma and will be charged a min of 25 and a max of 100 for the item. You will need a minimum of 10 karma to roll on any item.
- If you decide to not use your bonus, you may or may not be able to roll. If raider A has 70 karma and chooses not to use the bonus, he would essentially be rolling with 0 karma. If raider B with 60 karma uses his bonus, raider A is not eligible since the difference is greater than 50. If raider B only had 40 karma, raider A would be able to roll since 40 < 50.
- The last condition to be able to roll is loot council. Officers reserve the right to loot council any item they think needs to be. These items will most likely be BIS items.
Unfortunately there is no way for you to check your Karma in game. The site will be updated after every raid and that should be your source of information. If you have any questions regarding this new system please direct them to Shika.
Earning Karma With Prima Nocta
There are several ways to earn Karma with us. The following is a list of the most common ways to do so, and the amount you earn for each action.- Signing up on the website and being on 15 minutes prior to start: 5 Karma
- Showing up on time and prepared for a raid: 5 Karma
- Participating in the raid for one hour: 5 Karma
- Killing a new boss: 10 Karma
- Killing an already downed boss: 5 Karma
- Karma earned in a raid cannot be spent until the next raid. This is done to avoid confusion between what the website says, and what our in game Karma tracking says.
In addition, we will be using a wait list system that will allow us to rotate people in for bosses where they need a specific drop. This will primarily be utilized when no one in the already assembled raid needs a particular item for their main set/spec. The rules to the wait list are as follows.- People on the wait list are not allowed to be in any form of group while waiting. They must be online on time, just like people in the raid, and be ready to enter the instance within 5 minutes of an invite. They do not need to wait by the stone if they are doing something to the benefit of the guild, such as farming herbs for flasks.
- People on the wait list need to be on vent and place a comment on vent containing the names of the bosses they need so that we can make informed decisions about who to bring to each boss. If you need help making a comment please ask someone.
- Being on an alt is authorized only at raid leader discretion. If we don't know what character you're on, you won't be getting an invite.
- Members on the wait list must meet all the qualifications of a "Raider" to be eligible for these benefits. They must have the requisite gear, gems, enchants, and skill in order to be eligible to enter our raids, unless otherwise decided by the raid leader.
If you signed up and are not on by 9:25, your name will be going on a list in an Officer thread. Once your name is on that list, you have one week to let us know that you had a good reason for missing the raid. We're not unreasonable; it doesn't have to be something catastrophic, but it's gotta be better than "I just had to finish that one last game of LoL." If we don't hear from you within that week, you will be penalized 10% of your current Karma total.
Members that meet all the requirements for the wait list will earn 5 Karma for showing up on time, plus 5 Karma per hour of the raid. They will also receive the 5 Karma for any boss kill they participate in.
Old Content, New Karma
In order to prevent people from amassing huge amounts of Karma and taking it into the next level of content, we will only allow 10% of a players Karma from the current level of progression to transfer to the next. This way, no single player can dominate the loot early on and we can reward more people for their attendance in early progression. Each level of progression will maintain the same Karma dissemination values throughout the use of this loot system.
Any questions about this system, whether it be on how it works, wait list policies, or disputing your current Karma total, will be handled in a private thread to the leadership.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Specific ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- Raid start-up and sign-up: Raid start times are clearly posted on the Guild website calendar of events. All players who wish to participate in that day's raid must be on their raiding character 15 minutes prior to raid start. They should be available for invitations at that time and shall coordinate with the Raid Leader for any delay. This means that you should not be in a group, at an auction house, or grinding for last minute materials. Ready means you are at the instance, repaired, and ready to begin.
Sign-ups for the raid will be closed several hours prior to the start of the raid. Players who intend to go on the raid (including those on the Waiting List) are expected to have the right materials and be ready to go at start time. The only acceptable reason for not being present with all required materials is due to the request of one of the Raid Leaders: i.e., "Make us two Flasks of Uberness before you come out here. Oh, and get all the food out of the bank too, I didn't grab it earlier".
Players in excess of stated role requirements (i.e., 5/5 DPS, 1/1 Main Tank, etc) will be allowed in the raid at Raid Leader discretion. Players in excess of those requirements will be placed on the Waiting List.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- Gear Requirements: Players are expected to meet minimum raid gear requirements. This means that your gear should be mostly, if not entirely, from the current or previous level of content, gemmed, and enchanted properly.
Players who signed up but do not meet the raid minimums will only be allowed if group composition requires them (i.e., the only Protection Tank) and no other player who can fill that role is available. If you do not meet the minimum requirements, the Raid Leader may waive this only if other properly geared players are not on the waiting list with the needed skills.
Bear in mind, those who have a primarily PvP spec may lack some of the critical skills needed to progress far in PVE instances. While we will NOT require a player to respec to run guild raids, failure to meet minimum requirements MAY affect the ability to attend a raid.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- Group Composition: Some fights are very class/capability dependent (i.e., high AOE damage spells, Heal over Time, kick/pummel, etc). If a player is removed from the raid solely for "group composition" requirements for a boss fight, they will be awarded full DKP for any boss kill they are asked to sit out on and will be returned to the raid once the boss in question is killed. If the raid no longer needs a particular makeup, the player asked to sit out will be invited back to the raid for the next attempt. Players asked to sit out do NOT need to be within 5 minutes of the zone, and may go do whatever else they need to work on to continue gearing up for further progression.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Special Situations ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- Notification: Real life does interfere or delay players from getting on their toons. Prior coordination with the Raid Leader or via sign-up post should be used for notification of any limitations to raiding duration, etc. However, keep in mind that nine (or 24) other people are on hold while you finish your business. Therefore, players not ready to raid at the announced start time without prior approval of the Raid Leader will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list and other players will be offered a slot in the raid.
- Main Character Changes:The following are the rules for changing your main character, effective immediately. These only apply to players/characters with the rank of Raider and above.
- A player requesting a main change must have been in the guild for at least 3 months. We recruited you to play a particular class, and expect to get enough use out of that class to meet progression requirements.
- There must be an open position in the destination class and primary spec, and there must also be adequate full time players in the player's current class and spec.
- The new character you plan on switching to must be geared for the level of content we are currently progressing in. We will not carry anyone through previously completed content just so they can gear out a new toon. The player must accomplish this on your own time while still making raids on their current raiding character.
- The character the player is switching from must always be available for guild raids. We will not allow progression to halt because you don't want to bring your old character to a raid.
- The player must demonstrate to officers that they can play their new class appropriately, and submit a new raider application after getting approval from the required officers.
- If the player meets the above criteria, they will be allowed to switch main characters at the cost of half of their current Prima Karma total.
- The leadership can allow main changes for people with real life issues as needed. These will be special circumstances that rarely occur, and will require a majority officer vote before being allowed.
- Unfair Treatment & Appeals: A player who feels they are treated unfairly due to raid exclusion, standby DKP error, etc may appeal to the Raid Leader, then Senior Officer(s), and finally Guild Master IN THAT ORDER. Appeals will only be in whispers, in-game mail or private forum posts. Under no circumstances will complaining or flaming in guild chat, general chat, Ventrilo or other "large group" communications be considered acceptable; such actions may result in disciplinary actions. If the GM is not on, then the senior Officer(s) on the Raid make the final dispute resolution.
- Items Not Covered: Any item not covered here may be addressed in the same manner as appeals (mentioned above).
